System Requirements

  • RJS Extensions Plus requires MapInfo Professional v 6.5 or greater, and Internet Explorer v 5.0 or later.

  • RJS Extensions Plus is a MapBasic application designed to bring the powerful functionality of Routing J Server to MapInfo Professional desktop mapping software. As such, end users must own valid licenses for both Routing J Server and MapInfo Professional.

  • To use the geocoding ("find address") functionality of RJS Extensions Plus, a valid license of MapMarker (and its associated DLLs) must be installed on the same machine as RJS Extensions Plus.

RJS Extensions

RJS Extensions is a MapBasic® application that brings routing and drive time capabilities to MapInfo Professional® desktop mapping software, and works in concert with MapInfo Routing J Server, and MapMarker® geocoding software.  RJS Extensions has the ability to generate simple point-to-point routes, standard multipoint routes, optimized multipoint routes, and drive time polygons.  Text-based turn-by-turn directions can also be generated and used in other applications.  Resulting routes and drive times are created as MapInfo tables (.tab) so they work seamlessly within MapInfo Professional.

Above:  Multi-point routing without optimization (a certain order must be followed), vs.Optimized multi-point routing  (most efficient route is generated, ignoring order).

Two versions of RJS Extensions are available: RJS Extensions, and RJS Extensions Plus.

RJS Extensions basic routing features include:

  • Point-to-point routing
  • Quarterly updates of street information
  • Three location input options – standard address, latitude / longitude coordinates, or any row in a MapInfo Table
  • Support for points, lines or polygons for routing locations
  • Turn-by-turn routing directions that can be saved to a text file for use in other applications
  • Detailed routing directions which consist of turning information and estimated travel time

RJS Extensions Plus includes all of the features listed above, plus:

  • Multipoint routing

  • Route optimization

In addition to the standard routing capabilities, RJS Extensions provides the following drive time features:

  • Quarterly updates of street information

  • Customizable ambient speed (mph)

  • Three location input options – standard address, latitude / longitude coordinates, or any row in a MapInfo table

  •  Support for points, lines or polygons for routing locations

  •  Option to use only Major Roads for calculating drive times

  • Option to include holes or islands when calculating drive times

  • Customizable maximum off-road distance (in meters)

  • Choice of three output settings for polygons - low, medium, or high detail

  • Generation of unlimited number of drive time polygons

  • Customizable drive time unit intervals (in minutes)

  • Option to create drive time donuts instead of overlapping polygons

Use RJS Extensions for:

  • Creating Drive Times

  • Point-to-Point Routes

  • Standard Multipoint Routes

  • Optimized Multipoint Routes

  • Generate turn-by-turn driving directions
