Web
Services for RouteMAP IMS is a 100%
SOAP-compliant .NET Web Service library that
extends the capabilities of ESRI's RouteMAP
IMS™ product. Web Services for RouteMAP IMS
provides a myriad of service end points to
provide developers with a complete geospatial
web service implementation.
Designed
as a simple plug-in to an existing RouteMAP IMS
installation, the Web Service library delivers
geospatial functions such as Geocoding, Routing
and Map Presentation to custom applications
without any additional configuration.
Existing RouteMAP IMS functions remain intact,
meaning users maintain the ability to change,
edit and serve an unlimited number of maps and
routes, as well as maintain total control of web
site content and user interface.
Web
Services for RouteMAP IMS is written as an
ASP.NET Web Service and is uniquely poised to
take advantage of the multi-threading
capabilities of the ASP.NET web server. Web
Services for RouteMAP IMS takes full advantage
of the scalable nature of RouteMAP IMS and
offers flexibility to developers, whether
writing desktop or web-based applications in
VB.NET, C#, Java or any Web Service compliant
language. Developers have the ability to write
network-dependent desktop applications,
web-based Internet or intranet applications, or
even thin AJAX or JSON clients that provide
geospatial functionality via ESRI's RouteMAP IMS
API.
Most
importantly, web service administrators can
include, query and visualize existing Shapefile
layers such as trade areas, service boundaries
and store or customer locations. The Web
Service library makes use of the map editing
capability of RouteMAP IMS Map Author to include
customer-specific information on any map.
To
simplify the task of utilizing and developing
real and usable applications, the Web Services
for RouteMAP IMS library includes a variety of
code samples and a complete set of API
documentation.
